It is great that certain business signs are regulated. However, some signs and businesses need more regulation for heath and safety reasons.
People are literally dying from the heat and poor air quality. People are advised to remain indoors and not to exert energy. Despite these warnings, some businesses are having their workers, stationed on street corners, waving large signs that promote some aspect of their company. Many workers appear to be teenagers; most are outside without shade or water.
Teenagers need jobs. But having them energetically waving these signs in extreme heat and bad air seems unethical and unhealthy.
Such activities, those living signs, need to be regulated and outlawed on bad air days. The city of Modesto and Stanislaus County should take appropriate action, for the safety of those workers. I will not patronize any company that uses workers in such a manner.
