The Bee editorial ("Kamilos deserves support in pursuit of state funding," Nov. 9) stated: "The StanCOG policy board should give Kamilos a fair shot at his vision." What about giving the West Side, who will be affected detrimentally in numerous ways, such as 141,000 daily polluting vehicle trips on local roads, a fair shot at a future of our choice rather than the developer's exaggerated vision?
Most of us opposed to West Park are not opposed to the development of the 1,527 acres of the county-owned former Crows Landing air base, but another 3,300 acres is more than our area can handle without severe damage to our cities and residents by creating bad air, traffic-blocking trains or creating more pressure to build houses and pave over prime farmland. How about giving us a break and minimizing this project to the 1,527 acres that would still create the many jobs needed?
