Re “‘Road diet’ makes College safer (Page A13, Oct. 10): The College Avenue “road diet” would be better named the College Avenue “road bulimia” as it appears that someone threw up paint, repeatedly.
What was once a grand avenue from Roseburg to Coldwell (the only one in Modesto), College has been turned into a nightmare of striping, arrows, dashes and topped off with parallel parking in the middle of the street – right next to the single, south-bound lane. Watching people try to parallel park in the middle of the road, while backing up traffic in the only remaining lane, is a spectacle worthy of going viral on Youtube.
Why are the single lanes narrower than the center turn lane?
Why are barricades of concrete being installed? Are the painted instructions not clear enough? Who is going to keep the debris from accumulating in all these concrete cow plops?
Never miss a local story.
Why was $2 million spent on this mess?
