In the last two days, I have witnessed two incidents that have upset me greatly and given me cause to write this letter. The first involved a 14-year-old boy who, for reasons unknown, got out of control. I don’t think even he knew why. No one knew where his parents were, apparently. He had to be restrained until police arrived and he was taken away in handcuffs. The second incident was at a supermarket. A man was being restrained by store security because he also was out of control. Another boy, also about 14, stood with a woman (probably his mother) and watched the whole struggle, probably 15 minutes. The point is that if we are going to bring children into this world, let us not abandon them or subject them to the stupidity of adults. They are our future. What does this teach them?
