Re “ ‘Parenting’ provides outdated advice” (Letters, Sept. 9): The writer remarked that John Rosemond’s advice about parenting is outdated and that it is the problem with America; quite the opposite! The problem with our youth is that parents are allowing their kids to be in control – somewhat like the tail wagging the dog! Which is precisely why we now have a 10-year-old walking around with a gun selling drugs – unbelievable! The “stuff” to which the writer refers as “not working” is because everyone is too busy caving in to their children’s demands with phones, TVs, computers, etc. Too many adults simply have the intelligence of a paper clip, which they pass on to their offspring. Don’t believe it? Check out the level of delinquency and percentage of school dropouts.
