On Sept. 3, state Sen. Anthony Cannella spoke at our Stanislaus County Fire Chiefs Association meeting, updating members on what’s been happening at the Capitol, how it impacts us and how he continues to work toward developing and supporting public safety legislation. While the legislative update itself was very informative and proves to me he continues to work hard on our behalf, it was Sen. Cannella’s sincerity and realness that impressed me. For example, he shared he was a volunteer firefighter in Ceres and understands the dangers we face every day.
For him to take that experience to the Capitol, and understanding that our occupation is, in fact, unique – and often dangerous – is comforting. While we are honored to protect and save lives, sometimes it comes with a cost. To co-author and support legislation that protects us and our families shows he knows how important public safety is.
Thank you, Sen. Cannella, for taking the time to speak to our group, as well as for all you do for the district.
