Re “Fewer Republicans, better government” (Letters, Aug. 17): One would hope that the party with more power would use it wisely. Not so, especially when it comes to fiscal issues. Without fiscal oversight and constraint, the party in control spends our tax dollars with little consequence. It’s like giving a drunken sailor a credit card without limits and with little regard to reality. Most Democrats are ecstatic about spending every penny of your tax dollars and think nothing of coming back and asking for more.
It’s really naive to think these people have your best interests in mind. California has the highest business taxes in this land. Corporations continue to leave our state. Does the ever-increasing demand for more taxes hurt the poor? Certainly not, can’t get blood out of a turnip. The rich hardly notice, maybe a bit less caviar. But the hardworking middle-class plight will continue to disintegrate. Yeah, vote in more Democrats. Less fiscal control, less money in the coffers, Second Amendment rights further eroded and your water will all be in Southern California.
