Regarding “Where is America’s compassion?” (Opinions, July 6): The question should be, where is the compassion and responsibility of the people having these children? When you live in squalor and poverty, why would you want to bring a child into that situation? You don’t have children and expect the world to take care of them. It does not take a village to raise a child; it takes two loving, caring parents using some restraint.
