Jeremiah Williams: Parade was a big success

The only reason, even in our city of Modesto, that we can celebrate 140 years of an Independence Day Parade is because of the dedicated men and women who have fought for our country’s freedom and liberties since 1776.

Home of the brave, land of the free. Liberty has never been free.

The only reason, even in our city of Modesto, that we can celebrate 140 years of an Independence Day Parade is because of the dedicated men and women who have fought for our country’s freedom and liberties since 1776.

I would like to thank the Modesto Kiwanis Club, the committee and all the volunteers and members of Greater Modesto Kiwanis Club and city of Modesto staff. Also thanks to the many sponsors, judges, announcers and especially all the entrants.

Most importantly, thanks to all the citizens who came out to support our country’s birthday.

Let me again congratulate the nonprofits (Salvation Army, United Way and Modesto Symphony) who were the grand marshals for the Fourth of July parade as well as the Curtis & Nancy Grant, champions of the parade.

You can view the parade on government channel 7 starting July 21. Visit our website ModestoJulyparade.com. Have a great summer and God bless America.

Jeremiah Williams, 2014 Parade Chairman
