I am amazed at the thinking of our city leaders. Putting sidewalks on Briggsmore from Tully to Carver is a joke. I drive this road several times a day and have yet to see anyone walking along this stretch. But on College Avenue, between Granger and Briggsmore, there are two homes with no sidewalks. So the kids from Roosevelt Junior High either walk in the mud or have to walk on the street on College Avenue. I have tried for 40 years to get this fixed, but it is always the same excuses – we can’t order people to put in sidewalks, or we have no money to put them in. Plenty of money to put in sidewalks where nobody walks. And 40-plus years ago they took 10 feet off the front of my two properties to widen College Avenue, then ordered me to put in sidewalks or they would do it and add it to my tax bill. No compensation for the land, just orders to do it.
