Dawn Black: We don’t want, or need, a king

The New York Post reported on May 13, “Obama knows he can ignore scandal with impunity.” Writer Andrew McCarthy cites President Obama’s record of lawlessness as prodigious. I agree. Obama knew since 2010 about the VA scandal. I am troubled with his czar-like behavior, bypassing law to enact laws, and making decisions for which the checks and balances of Congress are ignored. Obama informed Congress he would do as he wished, with or without their approval as required by law, and Speaker of the House John Boehner applauded! Do Americans wish to exchange their constitutional protections for an oligarchy? Would applauding a president’s unconstitutional disregard of congressional checks and balances, to ensure presidential adherence to the Constitution, be an infraction of Boehner’s oath of office? Is Obama breaking the law? We cannot keep up with Obama’s weekly scandals – now the “trade” of military deserter Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, for five Taliban operatives without consulting Congress. Obama has not kept his promises to create jobs and economic growth. We don’t need a king. We need leadership for real “Hope and Change” before we lose this great nation.
