Candidate for county assessor Amy Bublack, per her interview with J.N. Sbranti in The Modesto Bee (“Divergent views in race for assessor,” April 18, Page A1), assures us that total ignorance of the assessor’s job would be no hindrance to her performance in the position. She intends to study on the job while taking a significant salary. Good for her!

However, her studies might interfere with her problems with the California Fair Political Practices Commission, which accuses Bublack and former candidate Kurt Vander Weide of 13 violations of laws governing their conduct in the 2008 Turlock City Council election.

I question her leadership qualities, which were nonexistent at council meetings I attended. But she certainly shows an abundance of arrogance and ignorance in her quest for the assessor’s office. The only candidate worthy of consideration is incumbent Don Gaekle.
