John G. Wetzler: Press needs to do better job in Modesto and nationwide

One has to wonder why the press in our country doesn’t ask the questions that need to be asked of both political parties. There is virtually no one taking politicians to task. Where are the reporters interviewing the mayor and City Council members as to their views on important decisions? What is the Chamber of Commerce doing to attract jobs in Modesto? In-depth interviews would be nice and would probably create interest in people buying newspapers! Nationally, one wonders why there are no open question-and-answer sessions in the White House. We would like to hear the hard questions asked. Never thought Sam Donaldson’s questions would be missed, but he was like a bulldog getting answers from the president on down! I know the press can do better than what we’re seeing now!
