Regarding “Ponder this, all you gun haters” (Letters, April 3): As one of those “gun-fearing liberals” to whom the writer directed her irrational letter, I feel obligated to provide some common-sense logic to an illogical argument.
Cars were designed to transport people distances too far to walk. Forks were designed to pierce one’s food and transport it to your mouth or hold the food while one slices off an appropriately sized piece to eat. Pencils were designed to portray one’s thoughts on paper, often with the desire to educate the ignorant. Guns were designed for one purpose – to kill living things. Most liberals don’t necessarily want all guns banned; we simply want to make it harder for people who shouldn’t have guns to be able to get them.
As to the rest of your letter, and the all-too-common vague and pointless attack on the president, I’ve given up attempting to have intelligent conversations regarding our president with people who lack the knowledge to discern biased opinion from fact.
