Many people who have written letters on the subject of Russia, Ukraine and Crimea have gotten the subject entirely wrong, so the record must be set straight.
The Obama administration has a track record of sending in the State Department and Soros-run NGOs to destabilize foreign governments, give logistical support to terrorists and oligarchs who pose as “pro-democracy” activists and then replace the old regime with a regime of their choosing. This happened in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and now Ukraine. Kiev is now in the control of neo-Nazis and gangsters who want to wage a genocidal ethnic cleansing campaign against the ethnic Russians living in the Eastern provinces. Crimea seceded from Ukraine and joined Russia to protect their ethnic Russian population from this new “democratic regime.”
This “democracy” promotion is enthusiastically supported by the left, by liberal “humanitarian” interventionists of the Clinton-Kerry-Obama stripe as well as neoconservatives who, truth be told, aren’t real conservatives but New Deal liberals who have spent the last 45 years duping people into thinking they are “conservative Republicans.”
Real conservatives like Ron Paul and Patrick Buchanan take the non-interventionist view and understand that interventionism started this mess and that more of it will make things worse. Non-interventionism, or in simpler terminology “minding our own business,” is not surrender or appeasement, it is common sense.
