I’m a longtime fan of The Modesto Bee, and I enjoy the letters, commentary and Opinions pages. I have never written a letter like this.
I will no longer be reading any article written by Ruben Navarrette Jr. For him to say in “A misuse of the American flag” (March 10) that Americans cannot wave the American flag on American soil anytime they want used to be considered treason and punishable by hanging. I would like to see him say that face to face to our fighting men and women returning home from Afghanistan.
I have displayed my American flag on my front porch 24/7 since I came home from Vietnam in 1971. And I will continue to wave the Stars and Stripes until the day I die.
How do you like me now, Ruben Navarrette Jr.?
