Donna Forgey Chapin: Thank you for finding ring lost in Modesto

I had an onyx with some white detail in it for many years. About four years ago, I finally decided to ask my son, who is a goldsmith with his own shop in Salinas, to have it put in a simple silver setting to wear with black outfits. It turned out very nice. But I’ve been losing weight and it fell off my right pinkie.

I dumped my big purse three times, checked the pockets of my slacks and coat, vacuumed under the seats in the car, all with no luck. The last place I thought it might be was Walgreens on Standiford, which I had visited.

I called and asked for lost and found. As I started describing the ring, the man interrupted me and said “I have it in my safe.”

You probably heard me scream. If you are the one who found my ring and turned it in to one of the clerks, and if you are the clerk who turned it in to the manager, Luke, thank you both from the bottom of my heart and soul.
