One of the things I enjoyed most about my years working at The Modesto Bee was coordinating and hosting The Bee’s Book Club. Through that experience, I had the pleasure of meeting and sharing my love of books with many fellow readers and members of the community. Now, in retirement, I have the time and leisure to participate in a book club myself. As a library volunteer and book lover, I would like to extend an invitation to all of those who belong to book clubs – or who might be thinking of starting a book club – to a night out for book club members hosted by the Stanislaus County Library.
“Book Club Secrets Revealed” will take place April 2 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Modesto library. Librarian Diane Bartlett will offer tips and suggestions for selecting books that engage readers and encourage provocative discussions. Book club members will have a chance to share experiences, including their best and worst book club selections. Following the program, library volunteers will conduct complimentary tours of the Modesto library. The program is free; however, guests are encouraged to call (209) 558-7814 to reserve a seat.
