Regarding Ruben Navarrette’s column “ A misuse of the American flag” (Opinions, March 10): The facts are twisted to make the innocent as the guilty.
He says the five students who wore the T-shirts with the American flag on Cinco de Mayo day at Live Oak High School (Morgan Hill) did so to taunt the Latino students. Could not celebrating the Mexican holiday at an American school be seen as taunting the Anglo students?
I think Americans are very lenient to allow Cinco de Mayo to be celebrated at public schools. Try celebrating an American holiday in Mexico, China, Russia or any other country and see how fast you are stopped and possibly arrested.
