Rep. Tom McClintock’s rabid article “ Environmentalists block path to future” (Opinions, March 12), calling everyone who disagrees with him “environmentalists” and “extremists,” is just another example of the extremist he is.

He wants to trash our planet so he and his friends can stay rich. If he wants to save our water, why doesn’t he do something about the million-dollar wells a few farmers are using to suck up California’s most valuable resource?

Dams silt up. They are a short-term solution to a long-term problem.

McClintock is also angry about the Merced River’s Wild and Scenic River status. He and his friends want to set a precedent to change the Wild and Scenic status so they can exploit the natural resources protected for all of us. They are also floating plans to sell off our public lands, to their friends, in the name of reducing national debt.

Don’t believe him – he’s for exploiting our resources, not for us, the people.
