Hunter Pollard: Standing up for animals

I am writing because I am tired of seeing animals abused. Recently, I saw an adult kick a dog. This infuriated me.

The mistreatment of animals is not just physical, but emotional as well. Think about the emotional pleas of the Humane Society to help care for those whose voices go unheard, have been abused and abandoned. Animals deserve the same treatment you would give a newborn baby. You would not bring a baby into your home without being prepared. This same thing should apply for all pets.

People should research their pet options. Make sure that their choice of pet is the correct choice for their homes. Instead of always looking for a puppy, kitty, etc., look to the animal shelters and rescues for pets who are up for adoption. I strongly believe that if you cannot afford a pet, you should not have one. Don’t think you are helping a stray by taking it in if you don’t have the time to care for it. It would be better off on its own, fending for itself. Be kind to animals.
