Paul Golden: Get crosswalk out of roundabout

I was traveling east on Sylvan past Elliot School and approached the Roselle roundabout. As I yielded before entering the circle I saw some high school joggers on the sidewalk. Then it dawned on me that within 20 feet of exiting the roundabout was a crosswalk.

I was traveling east on Sylvan past Elliot School and approached the Roselle roundabout. As I yielded before entering the circle I saw some high school joggers on the sidewalk. Then it dawned on me that within 20 feet of exiting the roundabout was a crosswalk. Fortunately, the runners on each side of the street were not in the crosswalk, as I would have had to jam on my brakes. Given the same scenario, if I had jammed on my brakes, I would have been rear-ended as a car behind me could not see why I was stopping.

I realize that moving the crosswalk farther down would mean lengthening the sidewalk, but the stakes here are high as far as hitting anyone in the crosswalk.
