The Oakdale City Council wants to double the population within the next 16 years. Crane Crossing and Sierra Point will be voted on at the March 3 meeting in the City Council chamber, 277 N. Second St. at 7 p.m.
The people own Oakdale, not the elected officials. They are not listening. Here we are again where our elected officials think they know what’s best for us; sounds like Washington. We need thousands of people to show up. The list of negative impacts will affect all of us: traffic will be a nightmare, noise, loss of habitat, loss of agriculture land, more solid waste, bad air quality, long lines everywhere we go. Our hospital and police and fire departments won’t be able to handle all the problems. And what about the crime that will come with it?
Get the impact list from City Hall and see for yourself. Why throw the present residents under the bus? Money’s the driving force, no doubt. Please, I love this little town. I’m calling everyone but the Marines, and you should, too. Tell everyone you can. Come to the meeting March 3. Let’s keep Oakdale safe. Once they change it there will be no going back.
