Have any of you ever been in a situation where people were talking about you as if you were not there? It is pretty uncomfortable. That is how it felt during the struggle to save Wood Colony. The people came out in droves and begged to preserve their way of life in simple peace. Yet minds were made up, and the “the people” were just wasting their time.

We are tired of it. My guess is, if the annexation of Wood Colony was put up for a vote to the citizens of Modesto, it would fail.

Citizens elect public officials in the hopes they will have a voice in governmental decisions. The citizens have all heard governmental officials use such phrases as “for the common good,” or “it will bring jobs.” Please, these are words used to justify their decisions which, in reality, are simply a disguise for their real motivations. Why do you think so many citizens do not trust government anymore? If you have a doctor, you can keep your doctor. Period. If you have a farm, you can keep your farm. Period. We know what is best for you. The citizens do not believe you anymore.
