Greg Mills: We do need health care like Israel’s

In “Insurance firms would do better” (Letters, Dec. 10), a recent correspondent derided Obamacare and claimed, “The U.S. had the best health care in the world, except for maybe Israel.” Not being familiar with Israel’s health care system, I Googled it. The opening paragraph of the Google entry says that “health care in Israel is universal and participation in a medical insurance plan is compulsory.”

Sounds like the letter writer is onto something here, as Google goes on to say that, “generally, health care in Israel is of high quality and is delivered in an efficient and effective manner.”
