Last Saturday, the Riverbank Cares Group held its annual Turkey Drive to benefit needy Riverbank families. With the help of a host of volunteers and the generous contributions from donors, the event exceeded expectations. Volunteers from Christian Food Sharing, St. Vincent de Paul, the Cardozo Middle School leadership group, Boy Scouts and others dressed as turkeys and soup cans, soliciting donations from drivers passing by the Les Schwab tire shop and Galaxy Theatres. The generosity of donors – who gave turkeys, canned goods and cash – was fantastic, especially considering the tough economic situation. The smiles were special, too; whether they were happy to donate or thought we were a bit weird, being dressed as turkeys and soup cans. Thanks to all who worked the event. Well done, Riverbank!
