Jim Burnham: Modesto's Measure X had loopholes

I am glad Measure X did not pass. Our Modesto administrators do not know how to spend money wisely. If Measure X was strictly for police and fire, it would have passed. But with the loopholes, I believe that most, if not all, the money would be wasted foolishly, like the proposed roundabout on Roselle Avenue at Kodiak Drive. Just what we need – another roundabout on Roselle, making three within a half-mile.

Since it was reported that all but $48,000 has been collected for the swimming pool at Enochs High School, will our property taxes decrease? I live in Village I and resent the fact that the agencies responsible for this tax disagree on when it expires. Soon?
