Jeremiah Williams: Burnside deserves new term

Modesto needs continued economic growth that will bring more jobs to its residents. The role of our elected officials is to guide Modesto and capitalize on the community’s strengths: agricultural superiority and an endless potential for strategic business development.

Modesto needs continued economic growth that will bring more jobs to its residents. The role of our elected officials is to guide Modesto and capitalize on the community’s strengths: agricultural superiority and an endless potential for strategic business development.

Councilmember Stephanie Burnside brings that principled, visionary leadership and an experienced business background to Modesto’s City Council.

Since Burnside’s appointment to the City Council in 2010, and her subsequent election win in 2011, she has been an independent voice for Modesto residents. She is a longtime member of the Modesto community and, apart from having a small family business in Modesto for the last decade, has been actively involved in many local organizations. She has been unafraid to challenge the status quo and has earned the respect of her colleagues through her willingness to consider and follow the facts.

Modesto’s City Council is a unit that requires all members to cooperate and compromise. Burnside has proved that she has the city’s best interest at heart and is making the tough choices necessary for long-term prosperity. For that, she’s got my vote.
