What a huge disappointment Anthony Cannella has been. I, like many, supported Cannella in his last election because he portrayed himself as a conservative leader who would battle the liberal elements in Sacramento to try to bring fiscal reasonableness and common sense to our Legislature. He also portrayed himself as a family-values candidate.
His actions give us a very different picture. Just to name two examples:
1. Co-sponsored SB 7 with Democrat Darrell Steinberg that mandates charter cities like Modesto to pay prevailing wages for all municipal construction projects. Great for the construction unions but unnecessarily costing taxpayers billions.
2. As far as his family values, Cannella chose not to voice opposition to AB 1266, which the governor just signed into law, allowing students K-12 in our public schools to choose what restrooms and locker rooms they will use. Showing the depth of his moral convictions, Cannella chose not to vote.
Folks, we deserve a representative who is at the very least honest about who he is and what he stands for.
