Endorsement disappoints

I am very disappointed with our police and fire unions on their endorsement of Tony Madrigal for District 2 City Council. One of the candidates in District 2 served for eight years on Santa Cruz City Council and was a disappointment and embarrassment to that city.

According to The Bee, Madrigal has had multiple convictions driving without a license, a reckless driving conviction and making a lewd comment about women during a police ride-along with an female officer. I know several police and fire officers and they are also disappointed in their unions’ selection. So, that leads me to believe that the public safety unions are more concerned about passing Measure X, which Madrigal endorses, than about electing quality persons to run our city.

Jon Rodriguez is the right choice for District 2.
