Safety Patrol could teach Congress

Many, if not all, of us are weary from the hopelessness of our dysfunctional government. The executive and legislative branches are deadlocked and frozen in place. I would like to share a fresh perspective that may help them get back on track.

This morning my travels led to an encounter with the Somerset and Standiford safety patrols. These 9- to 11-year-olds were completely focused on their job. They didn’t let anything deter them from insuring the safe and efficient flow of pedestrians and traffic. We can look to them as one element of our community that meets or exceeds our expectations. Their responsible performance sets a high standard for everyone to look up to.

Maybe Congress and the president should take a lesson in responsibility from the safety patrol.
