Bill Wood: High-speed gravy train

Over the years I have always believed that more genius level ideas come from Californians. Consider Elon Musk and his proposal for a hyperloop to transport people between San Francisco and Los Angeles in 30 minutes or less. Given his success record, it deserves very serious consideration as an alternative to the great high-speed rail system. The hyperloop would cost a fraction of what the rail project will ultimately cost.

Our political leaders are married to high-speed rail and the question is why? The answer is always the same: Follow the money. A few folks are making millions from all of us taxpayers. The high-speed rail should be renamed The Gravy Train. I am disappointed that I do not know where any of the Gravy Train stations are located so I could get on it too!
