Modesto's Measure X a small amount to pay

Voters really need to pass Measure X because our Modesto city government is in dire financial straits due to the Great Recession that is not over yet for us.

Voters really need to pass Measure X because our Modesto city government is in dire financial straits due to the Great Recession that is not over yet for us.

You have to trust our elected City Council members to do what is right with the much-needed funds. I sure do. They have stated both the reasons why and to what the additional revenue is going.

The intentions are clear, and revenues spent at the local government level are the most efficiently used expenditures of any level of government.

We are again the auto-theft capital of the whole nation. We see gang tagging in every sector of Modesto. Home invasions and robberies are more brazen and violent. We need more police in uniforms on the street. Let’s not let the gangs get the upper hand, even if just slightly. Fear is not a good reason to pass Measure X, but I do not want the criminals to get any advantage over us, the public. We deserve better city services, which used to exist here. It is a small amount to pay for so much that serves the greater good.
