Regarding “Elder home license under review” (Sept. 20, Page A1): How many residents did The Bee talk to?
I worked in military hospitals, in the mental wards and at the state hospital. I was an ombudsman in two counties. I have an idea of what I’m writing about. I live in the Sundial Palms Manor, and it is a good facility. It’s helping a lot of residents. It has good cooks, a devoted, loving staffing, activities, etc. There’s a lot of food, better than some facilities. The real problem is not enough staff.
The conflict is between the licensees (owners) and the state Department of Social Services.
