Optimism regarding Syria

President Obama was criticized for his intention to strike Syria and for looking for a diplomatic solution. So if he wants to strike Syria, he is a warmonger and if he wants peace he looks weak and doesn’t know what he wants. If the president looks weak for trying to bring peace, blessed are the weak. Sometimes the weak are the strongest (2Corinthians 12:10)

It’s OK to be skeptical about Russia’s intentions but we can’t be pessimistic. A little faith can move mountains. So I commend the president for at least trying. Anything that would avoid war is a step forward.

Our country should be a leader in diplomacy, in making peace not war. Violence leads to more violence. We overcome evil with good, not with more evil.

Now some worry that President Putin could get all the credit if there is a diplomatic solution to this crisis. But who cares who gets the credit as long as there is peace? Is this just about us or the Syrian people or who’s more powerful?

Let us pray for peace!
