I don’t mind not being able to sleep due to loud events every so often, but this Symbiosis Gathering at Woodward Reservoir was out of control.
After calling to lodge a complaint, I learned that if you pay the county enough for permits, you can have a concert as loud as you please until 5 a.m. The patrons for the permitted event can also panhandle in the middle of the road, camp, defecate, and litter in orchards neighboring the concert site with impunity.
As an added bonus, when local businessmen are trying to get semi trucks laden with almonds down an already exceedingly narrow roadway, they now have to contend with event patrons wandering aimlessly in the middle of the road.
What I’ve come to discover is that if you pay extra to keep select local government employees’ pensions nice and fat, you can step on all the local job creators and property-tax payers. The people who mismanaged this event need to be held accountable.
Never miss a local story.
Perhaps it’s time we camp, defecate, litter and play loud music at some government officials’ properties. Oh yeah, I forgot, Occupy Wall Street already did that.
