‘You can’t fix stupid’

The famous words of comedian Ron White, “You can’t fix stupid,” resounded as I read Leonard Pitts Jr.’s and Christine Flowers’ columns.

The famous words of comedian Ron White, “You can’t fix stupid,” resounded as I read Leonard Pitts Jr.’s and Christine Flowers’ columns (Sept. 19).

Pitt’s revelation that Iowa issues gun permits to blind people is more than proof enough for me of White’s pronouncement. But, when Flowers pointed out that the new non-native Indian Miss America said that she was “thankful that children watching at home can finally relate,” and that it caused a social media frenzy by people who were disgusted that a “100 percent American” did not win, I laughed so hard I cried. Only American Indians can legitimately make that claim.

Remember, these people are allowed to vote.

As I ruminated on those subjects I began to ponder the idea of a blind Miss Iowa carrying a loaded pistol strapped to her waist winning the contest and saying, “I am thankful that children are watching who can finally relate to the new Miss America.” I know, there’s just no fixing me, is there, Ron?
