Concern for sleepy teens masks bigger agenda

Education Secretary Arne Duncan’s suggestion (Sept. 5) to delay the start of the school day for sleepy high school kids may be the most ridiculous suggestion I have ever heard.

Does he think their future employers will also accommodate their need for sleep after a late night of social media and extracurricular activities? The purpose of an education is to prepare a child for a productive future, not coddle them into a life of pathetic apathy and laziness.

Oh no! Wait! If they are raised to be lazy and apathetic they will be easier to control because they won’t be able to survive without government assistance and won’t care about the freedoms they give up in the process! Of course! What was I thinking?
