Golfers have the solution for Modesto

I hope the Modesto City Council does due diligence in regards to our golf courses. Canceling the contract with Sue Fiscoe is step one. Understanding the problems is another issue.

Senior golfers were dismayed when the monthly ticket program was changed on them, the base users of the courses. They began searching for other venues. However, the biggest problem has been no real marketing of our courses as compared to other local markets; snack bars no better than you can receive at a Little League game at outrageous pricing, and treating Dryden as the stepchild course. Hiring outside management to run courses will not eliminate the cost problem but increase the deficit.

I believe the solution is so simple that the city cannot see the forest for the trees. We are blessed with great golf course employees and great courses. Council members, get out and speak to us golfers; together we can solve the problem.
