Why should The Bee bully sheriff’s officers when considering laws and enforcement of laws ?

First, consider our state. When the public approves a proposition, it becomes part of the California Constitution.

Former Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and former Democratic Attorneys General Jerry Brown and Bill Lockyer chose not to defend this law in court, even though their jobs required them to uphold and defend our state constitution.

Now let us look at the national scene. Judges that are to interrupt the law started making laws years ago and many have ignored the supreme law of the land, the Constitution. How about President Bill Clinton lying under oath? Then the Senate voted that is was OK for the president to lie under oath, which was politics for sure.

President George W. Bush chose to complete unreasonable “searches in our houses, papers, and effects” and called it safety.

Politicians make these decisions because they think they know best. Local sheriff’s officers know best that guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens is not our society’s quandary.

If the presidents, judges, congresses, governors and attorneys general decide what laws they will honor and enforce, why should we expect more from our local sheriffs?
