Disservice by climate change deniers

Disservice by climate change deniers

On Aug. 15, The Bee published another letter from a writer who insists there is no global warming (‘‘Global warming letter used bad data’’). The author said warming ended in 2002 and refers readers to the Climate Depot website.

There, after a little digging, you will discover the founder is Marc Morano, who has no scientific experience, but has a history in communications for Rush Limbaugh and Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., who is notorious for his extreme denials of global warming and comparisons of the science to Nazi propaganda. Morano was the communication director for the senator. His Climate Depot has published lists of “scientists” who allegedly oppose climate change data, but has been countered by many of them who say their record was wrongly reported.

The Depot is under the wing of a think tank named the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT), advocating market solutions and minimizing climate issues; one of its largest donors is ExxonMobil.

Those, whether local or national, who resist progress in coping with climate change/global warming are doing America and the world a huge disservice.
