Measure's scope steadily expands

When this tax was first mentioned, it was a tax that would be used for the police and fire departments. The voters in Ceres approved a sales tax and it went toward fire and police only. I usually don't vote for any tax increases. When I first read that this tax might be on the November ballot, I decided that I would vote for it.

The city fathers then decided to go for broke and ask for another $13 million per year for six years to be spent on other projects. We have been down this route before and that road on the horizon is still waiting to be paved.
