In response to the July 17 letter, "Get over gay marriage": I found your arguments very weak, if even relevant to the topic. First you took the time to point out what century we are living in, which may be helpful to some, but I am well aware of what year it is. I'd think that would be pretty common knowledge.
Second, whether or not a law in another country causes anarchy is a poor standard of measure for what laws we should or shouldn't use to govern.
Third, I ask you where this civilized world is of which you speak? If you are talking about this world, where we need law enforcement to protect people, even children, from murder, rape and violence. I would hardly call this anything close to a civilized world. With this said, I'm a bit puzzled by the arguments you used to rebut others on the issue of gay marriage.
