Support wetlands conservation

The North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA) is a crucial piece of legislation for Ducks Unlimited and many of our partner organizations such as Delta Waterfowl, Pheasants Forever, The Nature Conservancy and Land Trust Alliance who all use NAWCA grant funding to protect and conserve our natural heritage.

The act has conserved 27.3 million acres of habitat in North America over its nearly 25-year history with the help of more than 4,500 partner organizations.

More than 2,000 projects have received nearly $1.26 billion in federal investments while partner organizations have been able to contribute $2.61 billion in privately donated matching funds.

I urge Californians to contact their members of Congress and ask them to recognize the important work of NAWCA and that cutting funding to such a great piece of legislation is foolhardy and unacceptable. We need to make sure the bill is reauthorized this year so that private organizations can continue to work hard with public administrations to conserve our national heritage of wild lands and wetlands.
