Several letters have appeared in The Bee complaining about the recent court decision outlawing discrimination against gay men and women who want to be able to take part in the legal and economic benefits of marriage. Many of the letters cite passages out of the Old Testament forbidding male-to-male sexual relations. Unfortunately, these writers seem to support the idea that their religious beliefs should be the law of the land.

Now you know why the Founding Fathers believed in a separation of church and state.
