I see in in the June 25 paper, "Council to look at tax ideas," that we need more sales tax in Modesto. I recall hearing that politicians have never seen a tax they didn't like. If this additional tax is so badly needed, can someone explain to me why we resurfaced Needham Street and then we tore it up again?
If we need money so badly, why are we renovating tennis courts at Modesto High School and paying $35,000 for a survey? I would have been happy to contact 400 people for half that amount.
Our civic leaders need to start using some common sense and figure out you can't spend more than you have. I suppose it is much easier to spend up a storm when it's someone else's money.
