Give the president some credit

There seems to be a constant drumbeat of extreme negativity in the letters to the editor suggesting that the country is heading toward doom and gloom, led to this disastrous end by our president and his administration.

There seems to be a constant drumbeat of extreme negativity in the letters to the editor suggesting that the country is heading toward doom and gloom, led to this disastrous end by our president and his administration.

As the economy is showing significant signs of recovery, let's look at just a few of the many accomplishments of this administration that contributed to this recovery: the Affordable Care Act; the $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act; the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act; ending the war in Iraq; ending of war in Afghanistan; eliminating Osama bin Laden; the turned-around U.S. auto industry; recapitalized banks; kicked banks out of Federal Student Loan Program, saving $65 billion over 10 years, and the declining national deficit that was at $1.4 trillion in President Bush's last year and is now projected to be $744 billion in 2014. Let's get real.
