First Infantry, 4th Infantry, 8th Infantry, 28th Infantry, 30th Infantry, 101st Airborne — men served in these fighting groups and so many more on June 6, 1944, at the invasion of Normandy. How we are forgetting these men and women that saved our country and the world. No cameras, floodlights or glitter where they went, a long way and dangerous place away from home.
One thing on their mind that day — Am I going to live through this day? Please, God, watch over me and my buddies.
So sad we are forgetting the most courageous generation we know, some of whom laid down their lives for our country and people in other parts of the world. They are so humble. So many never made it home.
The strongest part of our country is our veterans. They have put their lives so many times on the line for us. Remember them always.
Never miss a local story.
