Turlock needs a one-half cent sales tax for Turlock — only. It should be put in a road fund for the existing city streets — only.
Streets must be resurfaced, not oiled. This tax shall not be used for new roads or new construction. This is a one-time-only fix for all existing streets. If tax funds are misused, the tax stops immediately.
The city of Turlock likes to put monies in the city's general fund so they can be used on special projects. That way, city officials can pat themselves on their backs.
No parcel tax. With a sales tax, everybody pays.
