The article on Modesto City Schools board member Steven Grenbeaux ("School official charged," April 18, Page A-1) reeks of political chicanery. Even though the alleged victim stated he did not fear for his life, was not injured and that he jumped in front of Grenbeaux's car, somehow it was decided that a yearlong investigation and felony charges were necessary.

In this era of economic austerity, when government services are being severely limited, I can't believe this is the best use of our resources. It sounds as though someone has an axe to grind. Come on, Madam District Attorney, there must be some real criminals to pursue.
